FAQ: Auto-Add Products to Groups
What does "Auto-add products to groups" do?
When this setting is enabled, any newly created product will be automatically added to an existing automation-based group (Auto by Title or Auto by Tag) if it matches that group's rules — without you having to manually add to the group.
Which types of groups does this apply to?
This feature only works with automation groups — example:
- Auto by Title groups
- Auto by Tag groups
It does not apply to manually created groups.
How does it work for Auto by Title groups?
After a product is created, if its title is updated to match an existing Auto by Title group's pattern within 30 minutes of creation, the product will be automatically added to that group.
How does it work for Auto by Tag groups?
After a product is created, if a matching tag is added to the product within 30 minutes of creation, the product will be automatically added to the corresponding Auto by Tag group.
What if I set up both the title and tag at the time I create the product?
If the product is created with a title or tag that already matches an existing group's rule, it will be automatically added to that group after 30 minutes.
What happens if I update the title or tag after the 30-minute window?
The product will not be automatically added to the group. To add it manually, go to Auto by Title or Auto by Tag, find the matching group, and click Run Automation — the product will then be added to the existing matching group.
