If you see a potential discount conflict notification, it means multiple automatic discounts apply to the same conditions and only one can be used at checkout. This guide shows how to review and resolve the conflict so the intended discount applies.

Handling Discount Conflicts in G: Volume Discounts & Free Gift

Scenario

You create a discount in G: Volume Discounts & Free Gift:

  1. Discount A: Buy 3 items, get 50% off all products.

At the same time, your store already has an existing automatic discount set up in Shopify:

  1. Discount B: Buy 3 items, get 70% off all products.

Because both discounts apply to the same condition, a potential conflict occurs.

Conflict notification

When a conflict is detected, the app will:

  1. Display a message indicating potential discount conflicts.

  2. Show a list of conflicting discounts (for example, Discount B).

  3. Provide a button to review discounts in Shopify

This behavior follows Shopify’s discount rules.

How to resolve a discount conflict

1. Open Discount Management

  1. Click Manage discounts.
  2. You will be redirected to the Discounts tab in Shopify admin.

2. Decide which discount to keep

  1. Most merchants keep the newly created discount and remove or deactivate the old one.
  2. For discounts created directly in Shopify: you can delete the conflicting discount, or set it to inactive.
