How to turn a square image into a circle? How can I make an image a circle similar to an avatar image?

There are two ways you can turn a square image into a circle shape:

Using Image Style Presets

Click on your image > Style > Style Presets (you may have to turn on Expert build mode). Then, click on Circle shape.

Using Border Radius config

Go to Style > Border > Radius and gradually increase the value until your image is a complete circle. (If the slider has reached maximum value, type in the field instead)
