How to Upload a Favicon

A favicon is a small image that represents your website, displayed in browser tabs and bookmark lists. Adding a favicon improves branding and gives your site a professional touch.

Steps to Add a Favicon:

1. Create Your Favicon

  • Use a free favicon generator or design one yourself.
  • Recommended sizes: 16x16 pixels or 32x32 pixels.

2. Add a Favicon to Your Online Store

On Desktop:

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin and go to Online Store > Themes.
  2. Select your theme and click Customize.
  3. Click the gear icon (Theme settings), then choose Logo or Favicon.
  4. In the Favicon image section:
    • To use an uploaded image, select it.
    • To upload a new image, click Add images and select your file.
  5. Click Done, then Save.

On Mobile:

iPhone:

  1. Open the Shopify app and tap the button.
  2. Go to Online Store > Manage all themes.
  3. Select your theme and tap Customize.
  4. Tap … > Theme settings, then Logo or Favicon.
  5. In the Favicon image section:
    • Select an existing image or upload a new one by tapping Add images.
  6. Tap Done, then Save.

Android:

  1. Open the Shopify app and tap the button.
  2. Navigate to Online Store > Manage all themes.
  3. Select your theme and tap Customize.
  4. Tap … > Theme settings, then Logo or Favicon.
  5. In the Favicon image section:
    • Select an existing image or upload a new one by tapping Add images.
  6. Tap Done, then .

3. Optional: Add Alt Text

  1. In the Favicon image section, click or tap Edit.
  2. Enter a description in the Alt text field.
  3. Save your changes.
