"Alt" text is the text that describes an image, mostly for search engine bots. Here is an example of an image's alt text:
<img src="puppy.jpg" alt="Dalmatian puppy playing fetch"/>
Although this is not visible to end users, you should always provide alt text for your images to help search engines understand the content of your images.
Bulk Edit in Product image alt optimization
First, on the app's left tab menu, click 'SEO Booster', where you can enter the feature 'Product image alt optimization'.
This helps you optimize your product image alt texts in bulk and automatically to help search engines better understand your content and for your images to rank on Google Images. Also, if you see in SEO Audit the error "Missing image alt text", then you can fix that error by using this feature.
To optimize the alt texts for your product images, you can either choose to optimize from 'Templates' or manually add a customized image alt text.
Bulk Edit with Template
- Enter your alt text template in the Alt Template field. You can also leave it as it is by default.
- Toggle to enable the template, and click Save.
- Click Optimize to run the optimization process. This might take some time, depending on the number of images on your site.
Manual Customization
If you prefer changing some alt texts to other specific values, click 'Optimize' on that product image. Type in your new value and Save.
