What is Frequently Bought Together and Its Benefits?
Frequently Bought Together (FBT) is a bundle widget that displays a curated group of related products directly on your Product Page, as a set customers can add to cart in a single click.
Instead of making shoppers hunt for accessories or complementary items, FBT brings everything to one place. It shows the main product alongside handpicked add-ons, letting customers complete their purchase instantly.
Example: An office furniture store sets up FBT for their Work Chair. When customers land on that page, they also see a Lumbar Cushion, Floor Mat, and Monitor Stand, all pre-selected and ready to bundle. One click adds everything to the cart.

Step by Step To Set Up Frequently Bought Together
Step 1: Getting Started
1.1. Open the App
Go to G: Volume Discounts in your Shopify admin and navigate to the Offers tab on the left side → Create Offer

1.2. Create a New Offer
Click Bundle & Save → Frequently Bought Together → Pick between Stack (vertical list) or Carousel layout. Both have the same configuration options and can be changed later.

On this page, there are four tabs where you can configure each criteria of your offer.
Tab 1: General
Configure the basics of your offer: who sees it, where, and when.
1.1. Name: An internal label for your offer in your Shopify Admin (not shown to customers).
1.2. Priority: Higher number = shown first when multiple offers apply.
1.3. Status: Set to Active to make it live immediately or Draft to save for later.
1.4. Apply to Products: Choose All Products, a Specific Product, or a Custom Segment.
- All Product: Select this to apply the offer for all products on your storefront.
- Specific product: Search for products to be applied with this offer by typing in the search bar or click the Browse button.
- Custom Segment: Control which segments can receive the offer. There are 4 rules of custom segments and you can add up to 4 rules for a single FBT offer.
Product by tags
Select products based on specific tags (e.g. “sales”, “new”, “pro”)
Type a tag in the ‘Enter tag product’ bar. To add more tags, simply click the + button and type in more.
Logical conditions (dropdown):
- Include all: Only apply for products that have all the entered tags.
- Include any: Apply for all products that have at least 1 among the entered tags.
- Exclude all: Apply all except for products that have all the entered tags.
- Exclude any: Apply all except for products that have at least 1 among the entered tags.
Products type
Filter the products according to the product type (custom product categories e.g. Color lines, Sleeves color, etc.)
Logical conditions (dropdown):
- Is: Apply for products that meet the entered type.
- Is not: Apply for products that are not in the entered type.
Products by collection
Target products that belong to specific collections.
Search for collections to be applied with the offer by clicking the Browse button.
1.5. Customer Criteria: Show the offer to All Customers or a specific Custom Segment.
1.5.1. All customers: Select this for the offer to be available for all customers.
1.5.2. Custom segment
Login status
Apply the offer based on the login status of customers. Choose between Logged in or Logged out.
Customer tags (Only for Logged in users)
Filter customers using custom tags (e.g., "VIP", "wholesale")
Logical conditions (dropdown):
- Include all: Only apply for customers that have all the entered tags.
- Include any: Apply for all customers that have at least 1 among the entered tags.
- Exclude all: Apply all except for customers that have all the entered tags.
- Exclude any: Apply all except for customers that have at least 1 among the entered tags.
Country
Filter customers based on their country of residence.
Search for countries and tick on what countries you want to apply this offer to.
Total amount spent (Only Logged in users)
Target customers who have spent a certain total amount
Set the minimum and maximum spending limit of the customers for the offer.
Number of orders (Only Logged in users)
Target customers based on how many orders they’ve placed
Set the minimum and maximum number of orders completed limit of the customers for the offer.
Customer type (Only Logged in users)
Choose which customer types this offer applies to:
- B2B Customers: Customers who belong to the store’s B2B catalog.
- Retail Customers: Regular retail customers.
- Both: Applies to both B2B and Retail customers.
Tab 2: Discount Tiers
This is where you define what appears inside the FBT widget: the text, the products, and any discounts.
2.1. Text
Customize the copy your shoppers see in the FBT widget:
Title: e.g. "Frequently Bought Together"
Subtitle: e.g. "Don't miss out on these complements to complete your set!"
Action Button: e.g. "Bundle & Save"
Total Text: Label for the bundle price summary, e.g. "BUNDLE SAVINGS:"
This is how the text is shown, you can view it in the Preview section on the right side.
2.2. Offer Products
Add the products you want to recommend. There is no limit on how many products you can add per offer.
For each product slot, choose how it's sourced using Product Suggest:
- Shopify AI Recommendation: Uses Shopify's built-in recommendation algorithm to auto-select a relevant product.
- Specific Product: Manually browse and pin one exact product from your store catalog
- Product from Same Collection: Pulls a product from the same collection as the viewed item. Choose between Random Product (a random item from the collection) or Best Selling Product (the top-selling item in that collection).
- Product from Specific Collection: Pulls a product from any collection you choose. Choose between Random Product (a random item from the collection) or Best Selling Product (the top-selling item in that collection).
Select by Default: When enabled, that product is pre-checked in the widget so customers see it already included in their bundle. You can enable this for unlimited products.
2.3. Apply Discount
Toggle on to offer a discount across all products in the bundle (including the main product and the add-ons) . Two discount types are available:
Percentage Discount: e.g. 10% off every item in the bundle.
Fixed Discount: e.g. a fixed amount per item like $10, $20, etc.
2.4. Add Free Gifts (Coming soon): Will allow you to add a free gift when customers purchase all products in the bundle.
Tab 3: Design
Control how the FBT widget looks on your storefront so it feels native to your brand.
*Use the live Preview panel on the right to see changes in real time as you adjust design settings.
3.1. Layout: Toggle between Stack (vertical list) or Carousel (horizontal scroll). Both support the same configuration.
3.2. Widget Layout: Adjust product padding, spacing, horizontal/vertical padding, product width, and widget spacing.

3.3. Widget Background: Set a background color for the entire FBT widget.
3.4. Product Background: Customize individual product card backgrounds and appearance.
3.5. Widget/Product/Form Colors: Customize colors of each component.
3.6. Typography: Where to typography of widget title & subtitle, product title & subtitle, total text, product compare price, action button, and total price.

Step 3: Save & Publish Your Offer
Once all four tabs are configured, click Save changes. You'll see a warning banner, this is expected.

Important: Add the FBT Block to Your Theme
The FBT widget will not appear on your storefront until the FBT Block is added to your product page theme. Here's how:
