Fixing meta data errors one by one is incredibly time-consuming. The Bulk Edit via CSV feature allows you to update multiple pages at once, saving hours of manual work. Follow these 3 easy steps to optimize your store's SEO efficiently.

- Navigate to SEO Audit in the app's left menu
- Click the Rescan button to fetch the most current errors from your store
- Click Export to download the .xlsx file containing all detected errors
This Excel file will serve as your reference for what needs to be corrected.

Step 2: Prepare Your CSV File
This is where you'll do the actual work of fixing your meta data errors.
2.1 Choose Your Page Type
Create separate CSV files for each type of page you're optimizing:
Products
Articles (Blog pages)
Landing pages
Collections

Pro tip: Open both the Excel errors file and your CSV file in split-screen mode for quick reference and editing.Once you're in the feature, click Download sample CSV to get the template file you'll use for editing.

2.2 Understanding CSV Columns
Each column in the CSV file corresponds to a specific element of your page's SEO. Here's what you need to know:
Column A: Handle (Required)
- The URL handle is the last part of your page's URL
- Important: The CSV only accepts handles, not full URLs
- When copying from the Excel errors file, remove the domain and keep only the handle
- Sample product page:
- Full URL: https://devmax3.myshopify.com › products › the-multi-location-snowboard
- Handle: the-multi-location-snowboard
- Sample article (blog) page - MUST include the blog category
- Full URL: https://devmax3.myshopify.com/blogs/news/10-coding-shortcuts-to-instantly-double-your-development-speed
- Handle: news/10-coding-shortcuts-to-instantly-double-your-development-speed
- Sample collection page:
- Full URL: https://devmax3.myshopify.com/collections/snowboard-collection
- Handle: snowboard-collection
- Sample landing page:
- Full URL: https://www.tapita.io/pages/seo-solutions
- Handle: seo-solutions

Column B: Title (H1)
- This serves as your product/collection/page title
- Common errors: Confuse readers about the purpose of the page.
NOTE: Fixing Title in Bulk edit in CSV will overwrite the existing value in Shopify admin config.Column C: Description
- The main description content for your product/collection/page
- Common errors: Missing description
- Ideal length: At least 300 words for optimal SEO

NOTE: Fixing Description in Bulk edit in CSV will overwrite the existing value in Shopify admin config.
Column D: SEO Title (Meta Title)
- The title that appears in search engine results
- Common errors: Missing, duplicate, too short, too long
- Ideal length: 30-70 characters

NOTE: Fixing SEO Title in Bulk edit in CSV will only change the value on frontend - Tapita config, not Shopify admin config.
Column E: SEO Description (Meta Description)
- The description snippet that appears in search engine results
- Common errors: Missing, duplicate, too short, too long
- Ideal length: 70-160 characters

NOTE: Fixing SEO Description in Bulk edit in CSV will only change the value on frontend - Tapita config, not Shopify admin config.
Column F: Focused Keywords
Choose keywords strategically based on page type:
For Products and Collections:
- Base keywords on the product or collection name
- Remove special characters and variant names
- Example:
- Product: "VANS | AUTHENTIC | (MULTI EYELETS) | GRADIENT/CRIMSON"
- Focus keyword: "vans authentic multi eyelets"
For Blog Pages:
- Use the shortest phrase that covers the main topic
- Example:
- Blog title: "How to wash running shoes for beginners"
- Focus keyword: "wash running shoes" or "wash running shoes for beginners"
2.3 Sample Workflow
Here's a practical example of how to fix an error:
- In the Excel errors file: You find qwerty.com/keyboard marked with error "Too short meta title"
- Current SEO title: "keyboard" (too short)
- In your CSV file:
- Paste the handle: keyboard
- Add optimized value to SEO Title column: "Most common keyboard layout for English-language keyboards"
Repeat this process for all errors you want to fix, working through each page systematically.

NOTES: If you enter focused keywords, please make sure your Title, Description, SEO Title, SEO Description contain the exact focused keywords, so you can achieve a high SEO score. If not, those missing will be detected as non-critical errors and take time to edit later.Step 3: Upload Your CSV File
- Once you've completed your edits, it's time to apply them to your store:
- Return to the Bulk Edit via CSV feature in the app
- Click Add files

- Select and upload your edited CSV file
- Review the summary of data inputs displayed on screen
- Click Start updating

What Happens Next
- A status banner will appear showing the update progress
- Once complete, navigate to the pages you edited
- You'll see updated content and improved SEO scores for each page
