Broken links guideline in Tapita SEO & Speed

Broken links option in SEO Booster feature automatically (or manually) 301 redirects all broken (404) links to the page of your choice to avoid interrupting user experience and create a better signal to search engines

After accessing SEO Booster in Tapita SEO & Speed, you can easily use 'Broken links' feature by clicking Configure.

'Broken links' feature by clicking Configure

This feature offers you 2 options: Auto Redirect and Manual Redirect

1. Auto Redirect

Simply fill in a URL that you want to redirect all 404 pages to.

Our app will notify if the redirecting URL you pasted is 404 (broken link) or not. If it says "URL is unavailable", you just entered a 404 URL.

URL is unavailable

If it says “OK”, the URL you enter is normal and good to be a redirecting link.

OK

2. Manual Redirect

Or you can choose the target redirecting page for each broken link. Here are the steps for manual configuration.

Step 1: Choose the broken link you want to fix by clicking the 'Fix' button for that specific link.

Notes
NOTE: The dash line under Redirect and Date for a broken link means that that broken link hasn't been redirected. You can click 'Fix' to manually redirect that broken link.
Step 2: Type in your destination URL address, click 'Save'.

After the broken link is redirected, the dash lines have been replaced with the target URL and the modified date.

When visitors click on the link https://www.tapita.io/blog/category/seo/ (which is a broken link), they will see the result page in the newly redirecting link.

Enabling this feature to eliminate broken links on your site is recommended. Please expect 4-8 minute delays before the redirection starts working for each new broken link on the report.

Alert
Please note that Auto-redirect is off by default to avoid issues with Shopify Markets. If you don’t use Shopify Markets, you can turn it on for broken links.
